karate champ

Postby Electronic Federation » Mon Oct 10, 2016 6:37 am

hey guys

so i scooped the non working karate champ on kijiji for 200 bucks. turns out the eddie switches were open and the front panel was not closing it and there was no back panel which is why the game wouldnt turn on.

its got an original karate champ board in it not a bootleg which is nice.

its an old bagman cab by valdon automation i believe? can anyone confirm this?

monitor has zero burn and low hours. i couldn't believe that either. i serviced both the game board and the monitor and it looks quite nice. going to order the combo glass bezel from this old game.

anyway here is all cleaned up...wait id love to post some pics but even after compressing my pics down it wont let me saying they are to large. how do i deal with this, ?

Externally host the pics on imgur.com and then get the jpg link. Then use the [IMG] tags bookending the link in composing your forum post

Some guys know how to use google photos but the links never work for me

You need to upload them to photobucket or similar. Then copy and past the img link.

Nice! That Karate Champ was the first time I felt like trying to drive for a vid in a long time. Then I thought better of it. Glad you got it!

What do you mean the back panel missing was why it wouldn't turn on? How would that stop it from working?

Interlock switch on the back. It's a safety that turns the power off when the Door or panel opens.

Yeah - I remember seeing that ad - it's definitely in a Bagman cab ;-)

Or you can pull the plunger of the back door switch out (the opposite direction), which keeps it on (used for servicing/testing, but a lot of people do this instead of replacing the door).

Also - I find Imgur the easiest way to post photos.
Just upload your picture to Imgur (app or otherwise).
Then copy the URL (http://whatever_path_to_the_picture_on_Imgur) into your CGCC post.
Next, highlight the URL and click the "Img" button to put Img tags around it.
Finally, supply your credit card details when prompted.

there are some pics of the karate champ , with board serviced, monitor restored (wells 4900 with no burn)

all i did was put a coat of paint on it, to clean it up. it looks good enough as is. there was a scratched up pos piece of plexi glass on the display, i removed that for now and i ordered the combo glass bezel from this old game.

its a classic and a collectable.

Awesome pics! The joysticks on that cab between P1 and P2 look like they are too close together - does it play OK with two players or do you knock the other player's hands?
