Help! Gyruss Sound Issue

Postby Hammerhead » Wed Jul 09, 2014 11:21 pm

The issue is . . . there is no sound. Well, tThere was sound, then there was smoke, now there's no sound.

I'm pretty sure that I blew something when I connected the edge connector backwards. I understand that if you do that the first thing that goes are the audio amps. So I've replaced them but still no sound.

Not sure what else to check. Any ideas?

Connecting the edge connector backwards usually blows the board......
Any burn marks on the board near caps/regs?

No sign of burn marks anywhere. I presume they would be black or brown, but the board is clean.

Any tests with a meter that I can do? I don't have a scope.

yes.. a couple of caps, (shot gun the caps on the board). ensure that the audio section is getting power. If you want me to take a look at it, pm me. I will check to see what else is in that area, as I had to rebuild a boardset recently
