make sure its not disk rot before you waste the cash I've found quite a few sega cd games get this issue.

you need to scan and set the channel or av mod it, As with Rf it will show up on channel 96 or 97 i can't recall its been a long time since i've pulled on a nstc-j console.

to replace the pot i wouldn't even charge its 3 point connection and would take me 1-2 mins. as for cleaning the pot make sure you get a good contact cleaner i'd suggest deoxit; i know its expensive but its not worth playing around with a cheaper solution. ideally you'd pick up DN5MS-15 they have it...

the odds of finding one working now a days below 150 is quite low. They can bought for around $50 with a broken laser quite easy to fix with a oscilloscope some good knowledge of amplifiers and how to set the Q point. I personally have never seen a model 1 at any swap meets since 2008

you need a kiosk demo disk to install. Or you could just switch out for a normal xbox 360 not a demo unit console.
