Did the wires connect to anything? It might be some kind of slam sensor. It's not large enough to move the side of the cabinet to create sound, but it might be able to go the other way. Anything notable at that point on the outside of the cabinet? Is the cabinet an original Galaga or a conversion? A...

There is no one joystick to rule them all for the simple facts that different games used different joysticks originally and (for those not insisting on authenticity) different people will have various preferences. Leaf switch or micro switch? Clicky or silent? Balltop or bat? Square or round actuato...

Yep, although I'm in Markham. I've got a homemade antenna pointed South out a second floor window (plan on mounting it outside, but haven't drilled the holes) cabled to my HDTV and a dual-tuner MythTV backend in the basement. Some links to websites which help with getting more out of your antenna: R...

IMHO you'll get more money (and a better response) if you part them out. Figure out what's working and put the rest out for free. Otherwise it's a bunch of junk which will cost the recipient time, money & effort to dispose of.

I don't know. Watching the video makes me think it's just a giant quad-screen slot machine / redemption game. Capcom might have licensed the NSMBW graphics from Nintendo, but not the game itself.

I have an HK eBay CF to IDE adapter in a old laptop which I'm using as an application proxy. It works, but it's slow. (Although some of this might be because I'm using a cheap CF card.) It's been going for 2.5 years so far.

And I don't know where the seller got their info, but that's not an original cabinet nor was Superman a Japan only release.

That's undoubtedly a decased TV instead of an arcade monitor. (A really good job too.) So add a standard res monitor to the list, along with the board set and the marquee.

Lots of places have old laws which usually unenforced, but are still on the books. Occasionally they get dragged out and used against someone. Then the person can try and get the law changed. It wasn't uncommon for pinball games to be outlawed (especially when they were more gambling machines) and i...

I somehow doubt they will get any takers paying one million for an arcade game, no matter how rare. An uber-rare Star Wars game might find a buyer at $25K. (Although it's really a standard Star Wars in a non-standard cabinet.) The typos take away from the professionalism of the listing.

What do you want to bet that the missing power cord is to disguise that the vector monitor and/or the PCBs are dead? So really the guy just wants someone else to haul it out of his place.

That being said, even an empty Omega Race cockpit cabinet is probably worth a decent amount.

I just watched the clip. I don't get it... why would someone take this sort of thing to a pawn shop instead of putting it up for sale on Craigslist, etc??? I think it's a convenience thing. Rather than taking the time and effort to find the right venue and deal with potential buyers, you take it to...
