I tried it using the RF cable that I was using with my NES (and the NES is working). The TV is also an older tube set and I have played a SNES on it in the past.

The SNES I have now (from a friend) powers up but the signal is scrambled when using the RF cable. I don't know if the unit is shot or if I can get it to hobble along using the composite cables. What channel did you try it on? Did you try both 3 and 4 to see if either worked? It could have been set...
