Canada Post & Customs Rant

Last night I picked up a parcel from Canada Post which contained a Skeleton+ 2600 cartridge from PackRat Video Games and I had to pay $8.81 to get it. The C-22 label stated it was a video game worth $19.99 US and a gift (which it was). For this I was charged: $1.78 GST and $2.03 in ORST (on the C$25...

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned Super Mario Brothers
as one of the worst video game movies ever. Even the IMDB review rates it as 2nd worst.

Tron gets my vote
as the best video game movie.

There was a dealer at Toronto Trek this past weekend with loose NES through GameCube software. Prices ranged from $20 and up! I pulled out a few carts, but when I realized that all of the prices were at least double what I would consider paying, I stopped looking. I did buy Riven (PC) for $10 though.

For Nature Boy or anyone else thinking about programming the 2600, you should be aware of the following pros & cons: PROs : decent sized programming community, lots of documentation, examples & source code available, very accurate emulators available on multiple platforms, cheap hardware development...

From the "Introduce Yourself" thread, I count myself and newcoleco, with Nature Boy a future possibility. Really, all you need to program a retro console is: 1. Time (lots of spare time) 2. Desire 3. a decent emulator (though an actual console & RAM/EPROM cart is recommended for final testing) 4. th...

I haven't read the article, but I did notice the headline. (The Star has been delivering free copies to my neighbourhood for the last two weeks. Waste of paper if you ask me.) Anyway, I sincerly doubt the Jays have any colour bias, and the "facts" are merely coincidences. Now, if the Jays suddenly t...

Well, it's not a CGE, but at the
Toronto Trek SF Convention I will be hosting a Retro Consoles panel. The description talks about programming, but
I'm sure collecting will be discussed as well. (My co-panelist is a collector, and will be bringing a Virtual Boy.)

The atricle was okay, although it didn't stay on a single topic for more than a couple of paragraphs. (Could be the fault of the editor though, especially with the big picture from the Matrix Reloaded game.) There was also no mention of homebrew games & hacks. Not only are people playing (and collec...

I also try to stay north of the border to avoid shipping, customs and exchange issues. (Though I will do
some price comparisions with ebay.com.) Having Canada Post charge $$ to collect $ in customs is really annoying.
