Arcade cabinet question:

Postby church » Fri Jun 13, 2003 4:58 pm

Anyone
here know anything about the value of arcade machines?

The reason I'm asking is someone advertised a pair of machines locally. I only have room for 1
machine in my apartment, if that, and I've always wanted one. Heck, if I had room I would have taken both for what he was asking. He wanted 250$ for Hit the
Ice and Final Bout Boxing, I had offered around that just for Final Bout Boxing but he told me I offered too much. On top of that he would throw in Super
dodge ball and WWF Wrestle Fest jamma boards with the two. He wasn't too keen on splitting the machines up but I think I've talked him into doing it. I
offered him 130$ for Final Bout Boxing and the Wrestle Fest board. Obviously I'm totally oblivious to Arcade machine values. He says that Final Bout is
complete, pretty much mint and in its original cabinet. I think this is a great deal, am I right?

I don't know, but i pay 150$ for a complete (less sidearts), extra clean WWF Superstars.

So i
think these price seem fair.

4000 games?
I can show you the way, young padawan....... :D

$100 for just a cabinet might be a little high.
Alot of times you can get free cabinets, if you know where to look.
If it came with
the arcade monitor in it for $100 I would definately do it.

@chromizone: if there is enough interest I will start a forum for mame and cabinets and
such.

Is there any interest in that?

I've dealt in arcade machines before
:)

I'd say that for two working cabinets with games that work, $250 is a great price. If you can get that Super Dodge Ball board, I'd want it, by
the way! That's a killer game..would love to get the board! Let me know what he wants for it and ask him if it's tested working, or if you can get it
cheap, I'll swap for it or buy it from you if it's reasonable!

Figure, if nothing else, buy both and sell one for $150 in the classifieds or at a
yard sale. Someone WILL buy it.

What exactly is involved in making a mame arcade. What
parts are needed? Is it hard to do?

For a brand new cabinet, that's a steal, and if it has a monitor.....WOW. If it's a refurbished
cabinet with no monitor, it's kind of high, but if it's a refurb with a monitor, still well worth it!

You got it. Any ideas for a name? You get an extra 10 points if it has a canuck twist.

How about Canuck Cabinet Corner? Err, nevermind, that sounds pretty terrible when you actually say it out loud.

I just scanned this thread.

I don't think we should be sticking Canadians into
cabinets.
