"Art of Atari" book

Postby jasonec » Mon Apr 25, 2016 6:19 pm

The good news: Atari had the best art!
The bad news: The book doesn't come out until October....

I pre-ordered mine this morning!
I'm not a big fan of game art books, but Atari made the most amazing box art (and arcade art) - I just had to have it.

Mine arrived today, and it's freaking amazing. Great layout, tons of information too! Very heavy though.
You can also get them on Amazon now too.

It is a great book indeed.

I just got my copy of another great retro art book (comes out March 13):
https://www.bitmapbooks.co.uk/products/ ... compendium

I had the privilege of being quoted in it for my work on the NES game M.C. Kids. 8)

That's awesome, RayB. I recall you also worked on Cool Spot as well, if I'm not mistaken :D How many console games did you work on back in the day? Which ones were they??

I have an incomplete list here (ancient website): http://www.rayb.com/published.htm

NES:
M.C. Kids

Super Nintendo:
7up Cool Spot
Speedy Gonzales
Looney Tunes B-Ball
Aero the Acrobat 2
ACME Animation Factory
....

Sega Genesis:
7up Cool Spot
Robocop VS Terminator
Global Gladiators (only 2 sprites!)
Disney's Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast
Disney's Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Quest
Aero the Acrobat 2

Sunsoft made all R&D staff test games too, so if I include titles I was a tester on:
Aero the Acrobat
Blaster Master 2
Pirates of Dark Water
Death and Return of Superman
Justice League Task Force
World Heros (SNES)
.
