Re: Retron VS Ouya

Postby mike boss » Sun Jan 29, 2017 12:22 am

Today I picked up a few 32GB Kingston SD cards from Factory Direct in Ajax. ($18 each if anyone is looking).
I wanted to get a bunch of ROM stuff checked off my list and prepared for the Retron and my Pi project.
I had a few things (gaming related) however that I wanted to do first.

I had to fix the Edge Joystick (NES Advantage style) for the NES Mini. One of the microswitch was pooched.
Couldn't move right............. sadly I'll need to order that kind of switch as I didn't have any.
I wasn't able to just drop in a Sanwa replacement stick like I had hoped. The spacing was a little off.
I'm in no real rush really so I ordered a few odds and ends from Ali Express.

Once that was done it was move onto the new control panel for my Popeye. Stupid buttons are just SLIGHTLY bigger than the drilled holes.
I'll need to get a dremel to take care of this. Such a pain in the a$$. I was really hoping to get that panel ready and Popeye wired up.

Soooo with these two projects kinda a bust it was all about the ROMs.
I got all the Gameboy (GBA and GBC) stuff I wanted/needed.
Even got my Sega Genesis Megadrive stuff done, and NES and SNES.
When it comes to the Famicom and Super Famicom stuff that has been a little pain.
I'm such a media wh0r3...I want everything. I wont play it all, but I want it.
I want the complete sets for the Famicom and Super Famicom.

I tracked down the Super Famicom stuff, but these individual game folders are FILLED with variants, etc.
Does anyone know of a good resource where I can find the info on what the descriptions mean.
I dont know if I'm wording this correctly, but for example I go into Dracuala X.
I have all these different versions (J) (E) (U) (HACK)............ anyway how to know whats the best?
What I should extract ? I'd lik the the set to be what was on actual retail cartridge.
Or am I asking for too much and would it be too much work ?

Finding North American sets was really easy. I wish these sets were as refined. IE - one game per folder.

Any tips, tricks, advice all welcome.

Thanks

So I got my Retron 5 fixed and it only cost me 25 bucks...yay.

So It can play Roms off an SD card? I must know how. This would be amazing.
