I never noticed anything really official
for your meet. I apologize for not noticing. Also, I just got prices quoted for T-Shirts so I it's a new thing. Personally I think a hall is a good idea
though. This would allow us to set up tables and bring in some machines that some people may not have even seen like the Vectrex and Malords could probably
bring a TurboDuo and the like. Any way we can consolidate these meets?

when do you plan on holding this meet???
i'm
planning mine for the end of august. i don't want this to conflict. i was going to announce it this week but i'm going to hold off until i can be sure
there is no conflict.

hey tg:

i guess i'm going to have to clarify this...

i not
holding any meeting,
i merely suggested that i could get hold of a hall cheap, that's all...

i have absolutely nothing to do with this other than
offering this sugeestion of a possible venue...that's it :)

hope that clears it up...

cheers

@ Tokengamer

that
sounds like a great way to start, and get to know some of the collectors in your area. make some friends, and develop relationships that can facilitate
trades.

well I think maybe a hall
is a better idea then running it out of a basement for a few reasons

1. more space ( I'm assuming ).
2. people can set up personal tables of stuff
for trade/sale.
3. you can charge cash for entrance to do the t-shirt thing.

these things could probably be done in the basement setting aswell
but I think the hall might be nicer...

and now that there is no conflict on schedual when were you planning the meet token gamer? eaither way ( hall
or home ) I'm in and very intrested in finding out more about what such meets are like

Well, either way, I'm game, as long as I know a good couple weeks in advance. I don't mind bringing a
system or two if someone asks nicely (I have a Duo, as well as a Neo Geo CD and some other oddball stuff taht some of you have probably never seen :)

I'll try and make it as best I can if we can finalize! And the further outside of Toronto the better IMO, as I hate city traffic! :P

well congobongo would you consider running it if it was going to be in a hall? I mean I would rather one
large meet where I can see every one then having to drive out to 2 seperate meets.

Token would you be game if you colaberated and had one large meet
instead of two?

just a thought..OH and I think name tags should be made and we can put our user names on so we know who's who.

i wouldn't mind colaborating on one larger meet. a
question was brought up today in the household regarding security which is giving me second thoughts so i'm definetly interested in colaborating. i used to
work at premier consumer shows so organizing space, tables, chairs, pipe and drape are my thing.
but my question is... how many people can we really
draw? and out of those people, how many are just checking out the action and how many are buying, selling, trading?
i was going to do it in my basement
because i figured about 10 people showing up. in the member list i counted about 25 people from the gta area (incl. oakville and burlington). i reasoned that
three quarters of those 25 would like to show up but then factor in shyness and intimidation and you're down to less than half. also, setting a date will
exclude some from attending if they have other commitments on that specific date. if a dozen people showed up, i would consider that a miracle.
anyone
else see it differently?

I would be willing to travel to Toronto for one in a hall
setting. I have already talked to a few other collectors (who havent registered with the site yet) who would be willing to share the ride.

If this
gets off the ground I would be more than willing to help out.

well I think you should re read the last few threads between you and the one datafreq had listed I think
its closer to 20 people or more and I know for sure I would be trading and buying

how many others would be doing the same?

and I'd be willing
to pay the extra entrance fee for entrance and the t-shirt

Perhaps you can set a tentative date, and ask for pre-bookings. It may be a little complicated, but then
you can gauge interest etc. Maybe advertise if you were really into it.

You could offer pre-registrations to cover the costs of a rental/setup, at a
discount.

Just some ideas. If it's something 'big' (in relative term of course), maybe I'll come on down too. Everything has to start
sometime, right?

Well, I'm all for a hall, and I'd be up for helping out/prebooking/etc. I'd be
more htan willing to drive the 2 hours to a GTA area event.
