its playing here in Ottawa, might consider going just to see what its like. although for $20 each you can get it at home. I just wonder if the theater will be filled with annoying fans

Could be, if you have 3 or more people who want to watch it, might as well just buy the PPV at home.

I love both wrestling and UFC but I just shudder at the people I would imagine packing these theatres.

For UFC I just picture a theatre full of tightly-wound guys with shaved heads, tribal tats and Affliction douchebag-capes.

Aren't all wrestling fans by definition lonely and annoying? :P
If you have to Google "MENSA" then you don't belong there.

dude INDY shows are the way to go with wrestling.
For anyone into wrestling check out ROH when they are in town.
As far as UFC in theaters, like WWE i can see it drawing well.
Decent enough to make it worth showing anyway.

Yeah Ring of Honor is pretty fantastic, a bunch of the TNA stars wrestled in ROH if I recall correctly.

Big UFC fan here, but like others I have a serious distaste for the bulky Tap-Out Too Tight T-shirt wearing meat heads.

Will the attention and success of female mma fighters cause UFC to open a female division? I've been looking around several answers about female mma, and most seem to believe the women mma doesn't attract the numbers. But looking at fighters like Gina Carano, isn't it reasonable to think that a women's division could attract a following in UFC? Isn't the a big part of EliteXC surviving because of Carano/Santos?

It seems to be a completely different breed of audience at UFC compared to the old wrestling crowd. The UFC does definitely seem to be on the up whereas wrestling is a dying sport.
My MLB pick is the Toronto Blue Jays

Wrestling is certainly not a dying breed. Your interest and the interest of your friends might have dwindled, but the WWE, TNA, ROH and other productions are all doing well for themselves. They still sell out most of their shows and are making a killing.

WWE currently has two shows (three? they killed the ECW brand and turned it into a new guys league didn't they?) Raw and Smackdown on cable, TNA Impact! has it's own slot, and if you have satelite there's also ROH matches and Mexican wrestling, not to mention WWE's 24/7 all wrestling all the time exclusive channel.

Add Pay Per View events, toys, licensing, webpages/stores...suffice it to say I don't think wrestling is really hurting all that much, or going anywhere anytime soon.

As for the "everyone now knows wrestling is fake" argument, lets not go there. Yes wrestling is indeed choreographed, But there's no way to fake a moonsault off the turnbuckle onto a guy on a table. Yes the punches are pulled, but wrestling is still one of the most physical forms of sport (/entertainment) out there.

I used to be big into the WWF up until that wrestlemania in toronto in 02... I usually watch wrestlemania every year. I find it more entertaining than UFC. Sometimes its not about whats real and whats not, its about being entertained. WWE as they call it now I find more entertaining than UFC... however, i still watch neither.

I will however go to the next Wrestlemania in Toronto, as they are a pretty fun thing to attend. Toronto bid for it in 2012 I think. They are going to announce which city got it in February 2011
