Man, customer service is out the window for these
guys.

Faulty products being released (IS2004 was brutal), then no longer supporting NAV2001 even for virus definition upgrades.

Then this
survey they recently posted doesn't even make sense? One question says "Two answers required" then they used radio buttons so you could only select one.
Another question is something about "If you could use your mobile device with these devices would you?" I have no idea what that means.

Their Anti-Spam I couldn't even get to install on a machine last week, but there is no point going to their circle logic support system. Try this if that
doesn't work try that if that doesn't work repeat.

I've had
troubles with this myself.. I'm the IT guy at a mid-sized print shop in Toronto, and my bosses are naturally too cheap to pay for a proper firewall/anti-
virus system, so I've got individual copies of NAV 2004 on all the PC's. This is an extreme pain because I've noticed some viruses and pop-ups actually
disable the auto-scan on NAV, which in turn forces a re-install. Speaking of pop-ups, I don't know how they're getting away with certain things (ie.
disabling the features and tabs in Task Manager?!). It's getting down-right malicious.

On the other hand, Mac's aren't AS bad, but they have
totally seperate problems on their own... damn you, OS-X!!!! Quark, Extensis and Apple all need to get together and take some Linux programming classes!
Oh, and.. "fastest personal computers in the world" MY ASS!! Sure, they work fine when they decide to cooperate, or when you're not doing anything!

I am also a tech and I have never found
Symatec reliable takes way to many resources does not catch many things because programmers have written the virus to attack that.
Plus the service is the
real shits.
They want your money and they don't care that the impression i get from them.
I use AVG Free personal edition it is great.

but i never liked them.

I like AVG and ZA and Ad-Aware. I have had very few problems worth writing about (mostly due to my bro's silly browsing habits). I have
heard too many horror stories about NAV and McAffee products.

Yeah, I've tried McAfee now and service is still crap. Here's the best one already:

McAfee
SpamGuard catches Viruses as spam and puts them in a seperate folder BEFORE the anti-virus sees the email. Then the antivirus all the sudden stumbles on this
huge collection of virus infected emails and wants you to scan your whole drive. Who wrote this stuff?

Looks like I'm moving to Sophos
Corporate next, anyone tried this? Supposedly when you buy your corporate licenses all employees can use it at home free of charge.

I had a hell of a time trying to upgrade to NAV 2004. It blew up halfway through the install, and
I had to pick out the registry damage by hand. Since then, I've been using AVG, and I've been happy!

The worst Norton story I have is a client tried to install Norton Internet Security 2004 on his system. I don't know exactly what
happened but by the time I got their his file system was toast. No recovery but to format (Not including expensive methods).

I went to the Symantec
"Online Support" and although all the cached copies of knowledge base articles were there they had completely removed the actual files. They had an article
called "After Install NIS2004 I can no longer boot my system", but the article was removed. In the "Email Support" you could no longer even select NIS2004.
I'm sure they've fixed it now but that was the big eye-opener for me.

I haven't had to renew yet but if that's true they've just lost another customer. There's not a lot good I've heard about the versions past
2001. Pity, because I was quite satisfied with 2001 ~ though their customer service certainly does suck, no way am I putting up with it if I'm forced to
upgrade.

Plus,
once you go to renew it shows your "Options" and it says one is to renew, however, there is no, "Buy" button. I had to search all over their site to find
that 2001 was no longer supported for renewals.
