Maple Leaf Gardens Turnstile

Postby joemomma » Wed May 29, 2013 2:19 pm

I came across 2 original turnstiles from maple leaf gardens, they were used back in the late 60's to early 70's I believe, they have the original blue paint (although in rough shape), they are made by the The Canadian Beaver Company Toronto, I know the were brought from MLG to the arena I work in, but I have no proof that they we're from the MLG except my word. I was wondering if anyone could guesstimate there value ? I have tried doing some back ground research and came up with only the newer ones for sale (stainless steel) there we're fetching about 1000.00, I thought these must be worth somewhere around there?? Any ideas or anyone know someone that might ?? Thanks for your help.

If you have no way to prove they where there then they wont be worth much no matter what you say. Its all in the paper work now and certificates these days. As for a value I wouldnt even know where to begin. Personally I would only give you or anyone that owned them what they are worth for scrap metal. They are a cool piece of history tho for sure

Any serial numbers you can run down ?
Get in touch with the manufacture ask nice and they may be able to run the serial numbers to find original purchaser. Only problem being is they are pre pc so files may or may not be available.

MLG still exists, so it's not worth that much.
If they knocked it down it would be worth more.
Many people lost huge money on that stuff !

Love the era when they have to advertise that the TV is "Solid State".

I have a Toronto stadium turnstile made by Canadian Beaver company from 1920-1930's, looking to sell. I can't find a serial # anywhere on it, if anyone can help me determine where I might find a # and where I could try to sell this. I've had museums interested but without a serial #, it's difficult because they need proof of where and what stadium this was actually in. Anyone who can help me would be greatly appreciated.
