Haha - totally agree.

But Apple does have one important use today - let me explain:

I've got tons of friends who are musicians. None of them are "good" musicians by any means, but they all have tens of thousands of dollars worth of musical equipment in their house. They don't use this equipment much at all, but by simply having it, it means that there is a "chance" that they'll make good music with it one day.

The same goes with Apple today. The iPod, iPhone and iPad were game-changers in the industry, and Apple definitely deserves some credit in those regards - however, to the average Joe, this means that Apple is equated with "success". So the reason you see so many people in Starbucks, Incubators, Game Jams, and Creative Startups with Macbooks is because they are willing to pay that huge premium for the "chance" to make something great. They probably won't (every time I walk by someone with a Macbook in a Creative Startup company, they're usually checking Facebook with it), but if they have that expensive Macbook, they may suddenly get struck with greatness

So, what is the one use Apple has today?
Well, it basically gives people with disposable income and poor common sense the ability to feel like they may achieve something

Final Cut Pro has sold a few Mac's to the video editing crowd as well.
