Using a USB hub with a TV

Perhaps a stupid question............

My main floor TV only has 2 HDMI inputs.
One for my Rogers STB/PVR , the other a Chromecast.
I just picked up an inexpensive Philips Media Player and I want to hook up a gaming console.
I picked up one of these boxes from ebay.



I have a 3 switch one and it doesn't require any power supply. This one seems like it does.
The Chromecast uses the only USB port on the TV.

I was wondering if I could use an extra USB hub I had kicking around. This way I could power the switch & Chromecast.
I don't know if that would cause an issue on the TV.

100% do-able, in fact it will accomplish exactly what you need. The TV is only providing power for the Chromecast via USB.

Any chance the PVR has a USB port on it you could grab power from? Then you wouldn't need to add the hub.

I'm unsure, but I'll look.
