Trailer looks pretty cool, 80's references like Rush, Tron cycle and BTTF Delorean.

The book was "OK" - the author is a total spaz, so he took a good story line and vomited 80s pop culture all over it (for sales appeal, obviously, since nostalgia sells big time with the younger generations nowadays).
But from the trailer, it looks like the movie studio is going to balance that 80s pop vomit a bit better and pump out an unforgettable movie!

Ouch!
The 80's references is what made the book awesome!

I have to concur with your assessment. The book did a hell of a lot of pandering to our generation.
