My gf parents have a
house in Alexandria (not too far off cornwall) and they are lucky to have a car that doesn't need too much gas.. So they gas up in ontario once a
week.

Prices in Quebec are usually about 10 cents more than in ontario... So we''re probably paying 70-75 cents a leter..

Weren't they in the low 60s/high 50s
in late Winter/early Spring? You know, before the war and the SARS and every other excuse that the gas cos came up with to stick it to us.

Today in Trenton it is only 63 cents/litre but in Belleville it jumped up 71.4 at some stations, so I went back to Trenton
and gassed-up before they played catch-up with B'ville.

This summer was one of the
longest and best gas wars I have ever seen. The one day i filled my truck for 22 cents/litre. I wish that the tank was almost empty, but oh well. Right
now gas is 62, not bad, could be a bit lower.

We never got the gas war out east here, but I wish we had.
;) I've been putting a lot of km's on the car driving back and forth from Kingston to Ottawa every week.

The lowest price I've seen lately was in London for 63.5 I think.

They have everyone brainwashed thinking 80 cents a litre is like you hit the jackpot....I still remember $0.30 gas and I'm not that old.

I remember 23 cents for gas, and $2-$3 for a pack of cigarettes. :)

Both are now going up according to yesterday's announcement by the Liberal government - 4.3cents/L more tax on gas, and ??? for cigarettes.

Why am I not surprised? What most don't realize is more than 50% of what you pay for gas, is collected by the government in taxes and levies.

Apparently the $$ is going towards providing free post-secondary education for low income families.....but, who knows where it will actually go....
