Is it possible that this is false? I mean, that was posted 3 months ago. I haven't heard anything of
the sort.

Plus, when you scroll farther into the thread (like page 5) there is mention of an april fools day joke.

This doesn't really surprise me much.. not
many people are playing coin-ops these days since they've all got consoles at home, and they're almost as good. Granted, it's not the same feeling, but
$1 to play a game for 3-5 minutes isn't my idea of money well spent.

It's been a long time coming. Capcom's coin-op dividsion hasn't been profitable for a while. I'd thought this was common
knowledge....Capcom themselves told it to me via email a while back...

SNK us part of sammy?

isn't SNK, SNK-Playmore and are now developing for the Sammy Atomis Wave (which is essentially a dreamcast.)
Sammy
bought out Sega... that i know...

you need to think of the fact that S-P is still a small company that purchased the assets of SNK when it went
under.... their trying to rebuild... and i'm not sure going into R&D for a new system would be all that strategically sound... and there is just so far the
MVS can go. Perhaps in a few years when they are back on their feet, it's going ot happen.

Correction - Sammy bought the rights to SNKP's intellectual
properties.

right
so Sammy purchased the rights to SNKP's Itelectual property...
That is to say Sammy now has thr rght to create arcades pertaining to their
Ips...

I think SNKPlaymore still has all the rights for console and stuff though.. but i really wasn't able to find anything on the web.

Yeah I think its the success of rentals that has hurt them as much as
the power of consoles. $50-75 for a new game can put a
lot of people
off but being able to rent it for a week for $7 makes kids put their money
that way over an arcade.

A good busy arcade certainly
has an unique atmosphere and different
gaming experience over the home. But the frequent arrival of new
games that are not only good but different
dried up 10 years ago. Thats
what I miss, seeing new exciting games every month. I'd love to walk
through a Japanese arcade and see what we don't
get.

Capcom USA has made the right choice, hopefully they will now spend
their resources on porting Resident Evil 0 and 4 to the PS2 now :D
