Total Arcade Game Overhall
Last year I bought A cabinet from
a guy in St. Catherines. It was a Shadow Warriors PCB in an unknown cab. It has very odd side art, which no one has been able to identify so far, so I
believe it is just independantly done. Anyways, I hate the layout. It has Atari start buttons, the ones like bbq starters. Then each side of the control
panel has one long microswitch button, and two short leaf switch buttons. I hope to totally re-do the control panel, but since it is metal, I'll have to
build on top of it. I am looking for suggestions, and wondering if short leaf swicth buttons can be changed to long microswitch buttons. And I would also
like new buttons anyways and possibly new joysticks. The ones I have now are good, and are red ball topped, but thats not the look I like for this machine.
Just wondering if anyone has some joysticks they would trade for mine. I will take pictures when I can. Also, what kind of paint do you suggest for re-
painting a cabinet? And maybe someone has a cool JAMMA PCB they can sell me, 3 buttons or less. Thanks, Alex.

Usually, Leafswitch buttons use a smaller hole than Microswitch,
so you'd have to drill out the hole. As for painting, if it's an Atari cabinet, it will have the sideart printed on vinyl and stuck to partical board, if
you peel the vinyl off, you have to be careful how you paint it, because it will swell. Have a look at this site http://www.tutankham.com There is lots of
good information on cabinet painting and resortation. And last but not least those cone buttons, are getting hard to find, maybe someone will make a trade
with you for the joysticks and buttons you want, what kind of joysticks do you want?

BBQ Start buttons? That is
funny. If they are cone buttons, hang onto them. They are good for trading. Ooops I shouldnt have said that. Wait ... I will give you $2 for them and pay
postage.
As for painting, I assume it is particle board or some other prefab wood. I have heard that using a primer called "Fresh Start" (or
something like that) is excellent to use before painting. But also check out that site that DiamondDave gave you, it is full of excellent material.
I would be really interested in seeing a picture to see if it is a classic Atari cabinet or a later model. All I know is that Atari made them
cheaply and very heavy (as opposed to Williams and Stern).

I don't think it is a Atari Cabinet, but I have no idea. The side art is un-identifyable, so I have no way of knowing. However, there is
a Electrohome sticker on the bottom of the cab on the inside, thats all I know. As for those Atari cones, I'll take em out and try and get a picture if I
can.

Hmmmm, I don't think thats an Atari
cabinet, but take the $2.00 from MonkeyBug for the buttons (He He He)
It looks like a genaric cabinet that was vey popular in arcades in southern
Ontario in the 80's, there was an arcade here in London, full of those, all with different games, kinda cool to see one again. It could be a copy of an
early cabinet though? just nothing I'm familiar with?

nahh
Nahhh looks like those buttons were added after the fact. They're silver and Atari stopped using the silver cone buttons around the time they
released Asteroids.

Yep, that is not an Atari
cabinet. I am 99.9% sure that is a Sidam cabinet. Sidam was an Italian manufacturer who made knockoffs like Explorer (Scramble), Magic Worm (centipede),
Asterock (Asteroids), Condor (Phoenix), Invasion (Space Invaders) and probably plenty more. Not a lot of documentation on them. They seem to show up a lot
in Ontario. They are somewhat rare but not worth that much unless original.
Check out this flyer, it is the same cabinet, just a different control
panel (and yes those buttons are original)

I was looking for one a few
years back because I had some Magic Worm stuff but have since given up. (Anyone want some Magic worm parts?).
