Canadian Companies that Recondition & Resale Arcades
Just curious if there's known Canadian companies (like TNT Amusements in PA) that recondition machines, re-sell and warrant. And then next one is are they reputable? I heard of one in QC, but limited positive reviews.

Aside from John's Jukes, I've never come across one. But there are about a half dozen in the US (TNT being the most famous of course) - they all do good work, but they aren't cheap (which is a shock for most collectors who expect everything for nothing ).
Donkey Kong, Burgertime, Galaga, Pac-man, Ms.Pac-man, Missile Command, Robotron, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Arkanoid, Tempest, Raiden, Tetris

If it's something tops on my list and intended to be a lifetime keeper I want one in pristine condition and not a fixer upper, so don't mind paying the extra coin. I certainly wouldn't be buying a 60 in 1 from one of them.

BTW TNT Amusements charges $475 (I assume U.S.) crating & packing, shipping to your curb. I asked about shipping to Toronto and they replied stating "to an address in Canada". They have a company that can manage duty for you and it's around 16%.

Re: Canadian Companies that Recondition & Resale Arcades
That seems reasonable for shipping from TNT given the knowledge that they are professional, reputable, and reliable... that peace of mind can add much value. Plus, picking it up costs more I bet
Buying a "restored" cab is tricky. To what degree? As far as I know, there isn't any grading system recognized by the community, and many people have different ideas of what "restored" means. A perfect looking Donkey Kong with the bezel strip in MDF and not real wood can be a big red flag for someone looking for a show piece.
That is where folk like TNT and such are able to charge what they do. They are essentially an established standard. You know what you're getting, the level of attention and so on. It's like getting a restored classic car from a reputable builder... It tells people it was done right.

Re: Canadian Companies that Recondition & Resale Arcades
Are you looking for a specific game?
I don't think a company like TNT exists up here, sadly. Not that I'd buy a restored game from them, I prefer to do it myself. Not sure what type of warranty TNT gives, either. Hard to warranty these old, old things even after they've been restore / reconditioned.
The reality is they're quite pricey restored. There's a LOT of work and parts that go into making them new again. I have 3 in my queue for this Spring / Summer. Maybe I could help out? Drop me a line!

There is or was a place in Oakville. I thought they were called Pinball Outlet, but Googleing gives me this place in Woodbridge:
http://www.pinballoutlet.com/
Same Google search brought up this: http://www.pinballexchange.com/
There must be more.

Also - don't forget that Terry has been doing this for years too.
He'll take a classic, redo the paint job on it completely, upgrade the PCB to a 60-in-1 and the CRT to an LCD for you.
And his turnaround time is pretty good too!

There's a few I'm interested in. I'd like to get a Rastan or Golden Axe. I have a double D, but the monitor is done and it's a bastardized Willams cab anyways. So a proper cab will be on my list.

Thank you on the Hamilton one. I did come across him last year and forgot to bookmark. The pinballout.com is a huge disappointment for arcades. If you look at their product list they have TMNT and Simpsons. But that is not true. What they really mean is they will make you a small cabaret i-cade for $2k and throw some Simpsons or TMNT decals on it. I was there about a month back and severely disappointed in how they advertise as well as their stock. The pictures make the place look very much worth the visit to which I found the opposite.

Did you mean London Terry? Yes, just met him recently. Great guy. But I do have a 60 in 1 already and I'm totally onboard the LCD bandwagon after having my CRT crap out.

I never thought anyone could derail my subtle humour, but you did. And did it well....
