Stranger Things arcade
The new Stranger Things 2 series is really good (binge watched it last night) - it sort of revolves around Dig Dug (even a later episode is called "Dig Dug"). But the arcade collecting community is losing their shit over the fact that the machine has an LCD
Donkey Kong, Burgertime, Galaga, Pac-man, Ms.Pac-man, Missile Command, Robotron, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Arkanoid, Tempest, Raiden, Tetris

Wouldn't you see all the scan lines though if it didn't?
P.S Anybody have a higher Dig Dug score than MADMAX? Said to be impossible lol...

The cameras would also pick up the refresh, so the screen would be obstructed by thick white lines.
Dig Dug is a great game, but very hard to get high scores on - my high score is far less than 750K:
Donkey Kong, Burgertime, Galaga, Pac-man, Ms.Pac-man, Missile Command, Robotron, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Arkanoid, Tempest, Raiden, Tetris

There is tech to sync up cameras and monitors, but it would cost tens of thousands in time/labour/equipment vs dropping in an LCD monitor.

Plus, with an LCD they can easily connect a PC to the VGA port to throw up a screenshot of the high score screen (which has 6 digit names like MADMAX instead of 3 digit names like MAX)

Would equipment like you describe have been needed any time a Tube TV/Monitor was shown during a movie or TV show?

Agreed.
They did that during the filming of pixels in Toronto.
Shame what they did to all those monitors.

Re: Stranger Things arcade
They already show TVs elsewhere in the show, so presumably they already know how to do it.
Either they are syncing with the TV's refresh rate, or they are adding the TV picture in afterwards with CGI. The same approach could have been used to do Dig Dug, but either they felt it wasn't worth the expense, or whoever did the mocked-up Dig Dug closeups didn't think about it.
It's just painful to watch a show get a bunch of other small details right, but then mess this up.
