Capcom CP System I to Raspberry Pi Help

Postby shambles66 » Wed Nov 29, 2017 2:00 pm

Hello Everyone,

I was thinking of purchasing a Super Street Fighter II CP System I but I was thinking of changing it with a raspberry Pi. Does anyone have any experience with such a build? If so, is it difficult and would anyone be able to point me into the right direction. I am fairly new to this and was wondering if anyone had any info or know where I could get some info on swapping out this system for a Pi.

Thanks,

Not sure what the CP Sys 1's cost but you can buy raspberry pi to jamma setups.

The link takes you to a build that will allow you to continue using your crt monitor.

What do you mean by changing it to a Raspberry Pi? Are you saying you want to buy the CP II box and put a Pi in it? I don't get the point of this project. Please share more details about your idea!

I basically have the arcade, just waiting to pick it up, but instead of just street fighter II I would like to make it a multicade. I am new to all of this so I have a raspberry Pi so I was wondering if it would be a difficult job to swap the street fighter out for something that I can add roms or just have multiple games on instead of just one. It doesn't have to be a Raspberry Pi, I just don't really know what else I could do to make it have multiple games on it.

There are plenty of options without using a raspberry pi. Your current harness will be jamma and you can plug in various compatible pcb's. Make sure whatever you purchase says it is jamma.

Here are two CPS multi boards I found with a quick google search.

There are also a bunch of multicade boards on http://www.multicade.ca/

Multicades prices are higher than any US supplier but they ship from Canada so things arrive a little faster.

Thank you so much for the info. This makes much more sense than using a Pi. I did not know they had multiple games n a board like that. Still need to do some research. So I would be able to purchase any Jamma board and swap it out of the original one?

Thanks a lot :)

Quick question. I was just doing some research on what you guys have given me and does anyone have an experience with the Pandora's Box? basically I am asking if its a good deal and worth to get that instead of just a 19-in-1 or 60-in-1 jamma board?

Thanks

I had one in a SF cab. You need to wire in a coin up button and a button to opt out of the games. If I remember that box has a 60 second count down before it picks a game for you so I have to keep adding credits i you have not decided what you want to play yet.

If you want to buy one thing and be done just get newest Pandora's box. They are best multi boxes right now. If you want a hobby and want to mess with your arcade machine and play games closer to original don't get Pandora's box because they suck pretty bad. They are cheap and work with minimal setup (not 100% plug and play, will need to connect few wires). For $100ish you get system that works and has hundreds of games. The games play but don't have very good emulation (brutal input lag, severe video issues, missing sounds, stuttering, running the wrong speed, etc). Some are better than others. Depending on titles you play. I haven't got around to picking up PB5 yet to test but I can pretty much guarantee it'll be the same shit as all the others. A case of you get what you pay.

Thanks a lot for all of the info :) I will have to do a bit of research to see which would work for me. I do like the fact that the pandora's box is just wiring setup which is pretty easy to do. I guess we will see how it goes.

Thanks a lot

Sorry, One last questions about the Jamma boards, specifically the multi ones. Would it be recommended to get a different power supply or do you guys think the one currently in the cab would suffice?

PSU in cab is fine assuming it works now. If it's running cps it should be good.
