Tankstick experience?

Postby darryldale » Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:05 am

OK, so anybody have any experience with the tankstick?

As stated in my previous post I can't get my Mortal Kombat machine down the stairs into my basement.

Already have a nice size TV on the wall and thinking of building a custom pedestal unit. I was thinking of a custom wood / sheet metal pedestal and just throwing a tankstick on the top. Something like this:

http://arcadestands.com/index.php/produ ... -pedestal/

Between that and a nice laptop mounted in the pedestal with an HDMI cord up to the TV I think I'll be back in business. Won't be as good as the Mortal Kombat cab but hey you do what you gotta to get your fix in.

I've had one for a little over a year and have nothing bad to say about it. Works well, feels sturdy!

Ditto here - I have a tankstick mounted to a showcase pedestal with a Mac Mini server inside running MAME.
I added a spinner to the tankstick as well as covered up the logo with a new vinyl overlay.
Best MAME controller IMO.....

They must have improved them, I have the version that was made before the trackball version and it's terrible.

I bought the Emulator Edition Plus and am very happy with it. A little on the pricey side I know bu the time you buy the encoder, sticks, buttons, trackball, and spinner you aren’t that far out. Solid build and had it shipped to a UPS store in Buffalo and drove across to pick it up.

Many thanks to Rick.

He had a couple he wasn't using anymore so I've taken both off of his hands.

Spend the next week getting them configured with a couple of new pc's then just need to convince the old man to build me a couple of wooden pedestals. See if he can make me a couple like the picture I posted.

Be nice to have a trackball again. Current MK machine doesn't have one and it would be nice to throw in a couple games of Missile Command, Centipede, Crystal Castle.

Why not just buy a showcase cabinet pedestal?
Showcase cabs are easy to find - too heavy - nobody wants them!

"Too Heavy" - Exactly why I don't want one.....

I've moved my Mortal Kombat machine twice and dont' have any interest in "heavy" anymore.

Nah - chuck the heavy part (back part that hosts the CRT) and keep just the pedestal part (light) :D
