There wasnt one last year but
there were shows in 2001 and 2002.

It is more of a "consumer" show I guess. There are parts sellers but there are also a lot of more finished games
for peoples rec-rooms.

At the last one there was a pinball contest. The grand prize was an old pinball machine. Not sure if anything like that is
planned for this year.

I enjoyed the show... gave you a chance to see what was out there and see who is local that deals in parts.

Is there a website for this? Where is it held?
I'd like to check it out.. :D

You guys are
pretty experienced in this stuff, would this be a good event to go to for a starter cab (or cocktail)? Or should I go to the Starburst auction instead? I
want to pick up something cheap & simple yet fun to play for my game room (ie. no more than $200), but I really have no idea what I'm doing. :?

Starburst is for people in the business or collectors/hobbyists.

The Toronto gameroom show is more of polished event. It is for hobbyists and the
general public.

If you want a starter cabinet, Starburst might be better. But then of course I heard of good deals at the beginning and end of the
last show.

Pins pins and more pins (including Hercules for sale at 2K). Also some slots and 5 vids: tempest w/
raster monitor, red baron, a star wars cockpit, a tapper (off) and a 4p mame (off). Lots of opportunities for free play too.

I'm also reconsidering
whether I want to own a pin. They are electomechanical monsters. There were two older (mechanical scoring) pins there for less than 1K (still over 500
though) which looked in decent conditions, but I bet they still need regular TLC and infusions of capital.

Not as many dealers / vendors as I would
have expected. I was hoping to get contact info for when I need to go parts shopping for my MAME cab.

Im a big pinhead and quite enjoyed it, but I could see alot of "games room" people could be pretty dissapointment. I was surprized there was no one
there from the pooltable industry.

Playing LOTR's pinball for the first time was a blast! :), but most of my time was spent on GnR's :)

Even though there seemed to be a 3:1 ratio of people to machines, I was always able to find one available, which was a pleasent
surprise.

Overall I think they probably had about 40 pins setup.
