Does this include demo games?

ie: Flatout for xbox?

Would be a bit better for this such game since it would limit everyone to one vehicle and unable to upgrade, since it's just the demo version

i think that's kool aslong as you specify. just like for the CV DK Level 4 was specified, now you can specify "whatever car" only

I would do this.

FlatOut - Xbox - HighJump //subject
Use only "whatever car" post your combined score //body

then you reply with your own post with your score.

I'd have to agree with Katarak.. no sense in having more than one thread for the same game. If you feel the need to offer a challange of doing it only with a certain car/ship/character, put it in the body of your text.

As an example, I'm going to be trying for the DOA high score, but it'll be in Survival Mode, and I'll most likely only be using Bayman, and I'll do it for both points and number of KO's seperately, but in the same thread, same post. That way, if anyone wants to beat my score using the same character they can.

I have an idea wherby you may enter a "comment" within the thread by putting the word "comment" in the reply subject. This way when we run a query to bring back just the scores we can filter out anything with the word "comment."

Although, Congo...
I'm not 100% sure how PHP works, but would you be able to convert the subject string to a number? If so, then any subject line that contains non-numeric characters will result in "NaN" ("Not a Number"--Assuming PHP returns such errors, like C and other languages do).

Then you could easily filter out any message that was not a score (or didn't adhere to the posting rules).

My only concern if that were possible, is if anyone enters a score with a comma in it. (ie: 2,400 ). I wonder if that would return NaN as well...

Ya I would rather have a simple rule like is it integer or no but as some scores may not be strictly numeric not sure that is possible. Like "12345 - Level 5" I would still like to allow for. I found it frustrating not to be able to respond with a comment without posting a score though. The script to write in say the last 5 high scores should be easy to add and I can even add it in on the "high-score" root page as well.

OK I have the best solution! if you don't enter anything in the reply subject it doesn't count as a score so you can post whatever you want. Check this out:

Exactly. That's what I was thinking of using for the home page and possibly for integrating into the high-scores forum page. We could eventually create a high scores section that is driven by this forum.

Not knowing anything about script writing, I say this: I think that the high scores that appear on the homepage should only be the highest score for each game. Of course, I don't mean the highest score for every game, because over time that would not be manageable (mind you, a link to a page that contained the highest scores for all the games posted would be cool). However, having more than one score for a game doesn't make sense. For example, RayB has more than a million points more than the next best score on Juno First, so the other scores don't really matter. If people are interested in what the other scores are for that game, they can read the thread. I realize that this is a little more complex than the way it is now, but it's my .02
